One of the oldest hand block printing techniques (dating back to 2500 BC) is now being practiced and preserved by artisans in Gujarat, India. Characterised usually by bright red and deep indigo colours, these prints incorporate jewel-like patterns which symbolise elements of nature such as stars and flowers.
This scarf features a cluster of traditional small flower with two leaf motifs in the centre and traditional symmetrical motifs representing flowers and leaves on the borders. The rectangular shape and Gajji silk fabric provides a comfortable and elegant drape. Hands made tassels have been appended to both the ends adding to the charm.
