Care and Maintenance: Brass will naturally tarnish over time, developing a protective patina that some find rather gorgeous indeed. To keep yours gleaming, avoid prolonged moisture and polish regularly with whitening toothpaste or ketchup, which sounds peculiar but genuinely works. A soft toothbrush and gentle rubbing for 30 to 60 seconds restores them splendidly. They are safe in water but should be dried immediately afterward, much like a nervous puppy.
