David Perry Glass & Ceramics
Hand-Crafted Fused Glass and Ceramics from a Cornwall Studio.
David Perry Glass & Ceramics is the studio practice of David Perry, a Cornwall-based fused-glass artist, potter, and photographer working from a self-built home workshop in Penryn. David's path to the bench is the slightly more useful kind: born in Gloucester, with a career that ran through pizzas, spectacles, pensions, and IT before he relocated to Cornwall in 2011, left his office job in Penzance in 2017, and built his own workshop in the garden in 2019 — and the work has the unmistakable quality of someone who got there deliberately rather than by accident. His pieces have been featured live on Channel 4's Steph's Packed Lunch, in Elle Decoration, Sunday Times Style, Home Style, Living Etc, Grazia, the London Evening Standard, Vogue UK, and Real Homes, and in the 2024 Nabertherm kiln manufacturer's catalogue. The studio's signature is the chequered fused-glass piece — bold, colour-led, and produced in colourways that have travelled a long way from the predictable end of the gift-shop ceramics market.
Every piece is handcrafted in Cornwall using a working repertoire that runs the full breadth of the disciplines: hand-cut glass, fused-glass powders, vitrigraph pulled, hand-rolled and slab-built ceramics, work thrown on the pottery wheel, and enamel painting. The range covers chequered glass coasters and placemats (the bestsellers), spoon rests, platters, trays, and chess and game boards in the chequered glass register; alongside thrown ceramics — bowls, vases, vessels, decorative pieces — and the more sculptural coral-style glass vases and wall pieces that pull from David's other life as a professional scuba diver. Every order is securely packed, often with small surprise freebies for first-time customers, and Trustpilot reviews from over 350 customers consistently mention the quality of the pieces, the speed of dispatch, and the genuine joy of unwrapping them.
