The Pillow Drop was founded in 2022 by Mitch and Misty — two design obsessives who noticed that the needlepoint cushion, one of the great traditional British craft forms, had been left largely untouched by anyone with a genuinely contemporary eye. The gap they spotted was specific: beautifully made, joyful, design-led needlepoint cushions that did not cost a fortune and did not take themselves too seriously. Every piece is designed by Mitch and Misty in the UK and made here too — hand needle-thread stitched, with soft velvet backing, in limited drops that sell out and do not return. The slogan range includes "Please Leave By 9" — which Gwyneth Paltrow described as her best wellness product for self-care, which is either the most unexpected endorsement in British homeware or the most entirely predictable one, depending on how well you know Gwyneth Paltrow.

The city range brings London, Paris, New York, St. Barts, St. Tropez and Ibiza to your sofa in bold needlepoint and vibrant colour — the kind of cushions that make a room feel like it has a personality rather than a colour scheme. The slogan cushions do the same thing with language: irreverent, warm, designed to make someone smile when they sit down.
