British Dog Accessories from a Family Who Properly, Genuinely, Love Dogs.

Right. So Hounds of Eden is the work of Di and Ash — a husband-and-wife team based in Bedford who started the whole thing back in 2015, when Di (then working for the NHS, slightly frazzled, in need of a hobby) began making collars and leads and the occasional bow tie for her own Jack Russells and the various pooches of friends and family. Word, as it tends to in these matters, got rather out of hand. The Etsy shop arrived, then the spare room, then the second bedroom, then a purpose-built garden office (much, the brand cheerfully admits, to her husband's despair), and by 2020 the whole thing had spilled into proper commercial premises with actual staff. They've since designed dog accessories ranges for Oliver Bonas, found themselves stocked at Pets at Home, and been written up in the Evening Standard as Best Dog Harnesses. Trustpilot, last time anyone checked, sits stubbornly on five stars.

The catalogue is properly comprehensive: dog harnesses (in vibrant printed cottons, with a particularly clever neck-strap safety lock and a head-clip option for the stronger pullers), collars, leads, Harris Tweed bow ties (for the more formal canine occasions), velvet accessories (for the truly distinguished hound), cosy jumpers and hoodies for those who feel the cold, and the rather lovely walking bag — with a built-in poop-bag dispenser at the front and interchangeable shoulder straps so one can match the harness, the season, or simply the mood. Materials are properly British where they can be (Liberty London cottons, Harris Tweed wool), construction is durable enough for the actual rigours of dog ownership, and every order ships out in great quantities each week to dog people around the world. Family-run, family-values, and rather charming about the whole thing. Other members of the team include Patchy, Ziggy, and (the chief biscuit inspector) their son Isaac.
