Natural Cosmetics. From Meadow to Bathroom Shelf.

The word "nurm" means meadow in Estonian — and it's no accident that it gives this brand its name. The co-founder Marit Tiits has called the meadow "a place that always brought me joy, was full of surprises, and when needed, offered comfort," which is roughly the brief Nurme has been working to ever since. Founded in Kose Parish in 2009 by Marit and her mother Luule Tiits — both, as it happens, made redundant in the same financial crisis the year they started, which is what finally pushed the home-kitchen soap-making hobby into a proper business — Nurme has spent the years since handcrafting natural cosmetics with a simplicity and honesty that the beauty industry often talks about but rarely delivers. Every soap, cream, shampoo and oil is made by hand in small batches using only the best natural ingredients — essential oils, herbal extracts, plant-based actives — with no parabens, no synthetic fragrances, and no compromises.

Cruelty-free, 100% natural, sustainably packaged and suitable for the whole family from babies to adults, Nurme is the kind of brand that once you find, you rather wonder what you were using before. Estonian peat, Baltic herbs, Nordic botanicals — ingredients chosen because they genuinely work, not because they look good on a label. The operation has grown out of Marit's home kitchen, where it started, into a proper soap house at Räbina farm in Kose, where the cold-process soaps cure for a full month before being cut and packaged (a step that can't really be hurried — soap that has dried longer is harder, milder on skin, and lasts considerably longer in the bathroom). Awards have followed in due course — Free From Skincare, Global Green Beauty, Natural & Organic Awards Europe, Bambini Baby — though the original principle, that what goes on the skin matters, hasn't changed.
