A rather splendid piece of West African craftsmanship that somehow manages to be both utterly authentic and surprisingly easy to live with. This is genuine Bogolan, the traditional mud cloth from Mali, where artisans have been perfecting their craft for generations while the rest of us were still working out how to fold a fitted sheet.

Genuinely Handmade: Each cloth is hand spun and hand woven using local cotton and traditional strip looms, then beautifully finished with natural mud dyes and intricate hand drawn designs. No two pieces are identical, which is rather marvellous if you prefer your home décor to have actual character.
Made with Purpose: Created through a labour intensive process that involves both men and women working together, supporting traditional techniques that have survived centuries. When you own this, you are quite literally supporting artisans who take pride in their work.
Naturally Dyed: The cloth is soaked in mixtures of pounded leaves from local trees, then decorated with traditional mud dye applied by hand using bamboo or metal spatulas. The result is gorgeously organic patterns and colours that speak to gender, social status, and personal artistic taste.
A Showstopper: The geometric patterns and earthy tones work as a throw, wall hanging, or decorative fabric. It is the sort of piece people actually ask about at dinner parties.
