A Rather Splendid Piece of Wearable Art
This is a properly handsome throw, if we're being honest. It's a mud cloth, or Bogolanfini as they say in Mali, which translates rather nicely to, well, mud cloth. The term comes from the Bamana language where bogo means earth or mud, lan means with or by means of, and fini means cloth. Marvellously logical, really.
Why Choose Our Handwoven Mud Cloth Throw
Authentically Crafted: Each cloth is hand spun and hand woven by artisans using local cotton and traditional strip looms, then meticulously stitched together by hand. It's the sort of thing that reminds you labour actually means something.
Traditionally Decorated: Women artisans apply mud dye using bamboo or metal spatulas to create bespoke designs that often reflect gender, social status, or personal taste. The patterns are rather like conversations frozen in fabric.
Naturally Dyed: The cloth is soaked in a mixture of pounded leaves from local trees before the mud dye is applied, giving it genuine character and depth that you simply cannot fake.
Built to Last: This isn't mass produced tat. The entire process involves both men and women working with intention, creating something that improves with age and use.

Size: 160 centimetres by 100 centimetres, which gives you rather a lot of throw to work with.
Artisanal Note: There is a small gap of approximately 5 centimetres in one of the bottom strips. Easily stitched to seal up if you're so inclined, or left as a charming reminder that it's genuinely handmade.

Now, we absolutely adore our brand partners - they work incredibly hard and we do try to support them as much as we possibly can. So I'm rather afraid we have to pass the return postage costs back to you. Frightfully sorry about that!
