April 2026.

A considered edit of what is worth leaving the house for this month. Not everything. Not a list. Just the things that are genuinely worth your Saturday.

The Market Worth Getting Lost In.

Leadenhall Market has been doing this since 1331. The glass-covered Victorian walkways, the cobbled floors, the faint sense that you have wandered somewhere most people haven't quite found yet.

SoLo Craft Fair began in South London with a passion for bringing together talented makers and handmade goods. Now they have permanent shops in Elephant & Castle, Brixton Village and Leadenhall itself — and every second Saturday from April through December, they take over the arcades with 100+ independent makers. Jewellery, ceramics, art, homeware, textiles, handcrafted pieces of every kind. Free to enter, 12–5pm. The kind of Saturday that earns its keep.

The permanent shop at 43–45 Bull's Head Passage is open seven days a week if you can't wait for a Saturday.

The Brand Worth Finding While You're There.

Look out for WooWoo London. Block printed mum and baby textiles, handmade in Jaipur using soft cotton, natural dyes and small batch craftsmanship. The kind of thing you pick up at a market, carry home carefully, and still have twenty years later. They are one of ours — find their full collection on Söstter — but the market is where you get to meet the people behind it. Rather worth it.

Every second Saturday, April–December. Leadenhall Market, City of London, EC3V 1LT. Free.

The Archive Worth Exploring.

The Design Museum has handed over its main gallery to Wes Anderson — the first retrospective devoted to his cinematic archive, produced in collaboration with la Cinémathèque française. Sets, costumes, storyboards, objects, the meticulous colour palettes that have made his films feel like inhabitable worlds. For anyone who has ever arranged their bookshelves by colour. Which is, frankly, most of our customers.

On now at the Design Museum, Kensington. Book ahead.

The Gallery You Can Walk Into For Free.

Victoria Miro in Islington is showing Paula Rego: Story Line from 16 April to 23 May. Free entry. One of Britain's most powerful storytellers — dark, warm, uncomfortable and completely unforgettable. The kind of show that earns the walk to Angel.

16 April–23 May. Victoria Miro, Wharf Road, London N1. Free.

The Museum That Just Opened.

V&A East opened on 18 April in Stratford. Not a satellite. Not a storage facility. A proper new museum, built around the question of why people make things — with permanent free galleries drawing on creativity from across cultures and centuries, and an inaugural temporary exhibition on 125 years of Black British music. The building alone is worth the Overground journey. Go before the queues work it out.

V&A East Museum, Stratford, London. Permanent galleries free. Opens 18 April.

More places worth the journey in our Go & See guide — or browse the UK Boutiques directory for the shops behind the brands.

Updated monthly. Back next month with May's edit.
